Our lives in recent days have slowed considerably (as much as things can slow down with four kids and busy work schedules) so blogging might be less frequent from me for a while. (Or maybe it's just going to be more boring) LOL Morgan and Marissa have come home each afternoon this past week as soon as school is over and except for Morgan going back to lifeguard in the evenings, they have had more time to rest and catch up on things they neglected during swim season. I cannot imagine that either of them rest for too long however as they both continue to work out from home and are already talking about their next "thing".
I came home the other day and found Marissa upstairs riding the trainer. She doesn't enjoy biking as much as Noel does, but if she's going to participate in a couple of triathlons this summer, she definitely needs to practice on a bike. She has already made the comment that if she rides Noel's bike, she either needs a different seat - or padded shorts. LOL
Melayna just finished her ensemble competition on Friday. She played clarinet as part of a trio with two of her other band friends. They were not allowed to compete in person as she did last year so they recorded their piece and it will be sent in and judged virtually. Although it was far less "fun" for them this year, it doesn't diminish the amount of time and hard work that was put into the competition so we are proud of Melayna, Victoria, and Teegan on their hard work. They won't find out their results for a while but I'm sure they did wonderful.
Nolan is also staying busy with school. Last week they were able to watch the Mars Rover landing from their classroom. Or at least most of it. I think it officially landed during the 15 minutes that it took to drive him from his school to our house and he was really disappointed. I tried to find it online so that he could watch it while we were driving but it the feed kept freezing. We turned the television on as soon as we got home and he was able to see some replays of it but he claims it just "wasn't the same".
And now that the temperatures outdoors have risen quite a bit, Nolan is glad to be able to get back outside to play in the snow during recess. And as I've said before, I'm so thankful that his school allows them so much time to play outside.

A fun story from Morgan....
Last week she spoke up during an online swim conversation between all of the girl swimmers. It wasn't a big deal, but as they were trying to plan an end of the season event, Morgan jumped in to speak up for some of the younger swimmers to share a different perspective. A few minutes later, she saw this meme on the swimming feed and she enjoyed the support she received. LOL

A frustrating story from me....
For some reason, the FedEx driver refuses to deliver packages to our house. He continues to put packages either on the trailer or inside the trailer that is parked down in front of Noel's shop and never up near our porch. Sometimes we find the packages the day they are delivered, some times Noel discovers them later when he is down there loading up for work. Some times the packages are packaged well enough that they are still in good condition when we find them and other times you can tell they've been sitting in the snow and rain for a while. It's so frustrating and although the UPS driver will come all the way up the drive, no matter how much we complain, the FedEx driver still will not.
I came home the other day and saw another package once again put down on the trailer. You can also see the blue colored package on the corner....
Who knows, maybe when the weather gets warmer the driver will be able to walk all the way up to our porch and deliver packages the way they should.

The kids had a great time ice skating with their youth group this past Sunday. Thankfully no one was injured during this event.

Nolan has been asking to go to open swim for most of the winter. I knew that he really wanted to swim as he loves it, but I just couldn't get excited about going back to the pool once again in the evenings after the girls spent most of their day at the school already. With swimming now ended, I told Nolan that we could probably go to several open swims. We finally were able to do that this past week. Knowing that Morgan would be lifeguarding for the Club team earlier in the evening, I told her that Nolan and I would probably see her for a few minutes when we got there but she mentioned that she had a lot of homework to do and would go home. When we got there, I noticed that she had her suit on and was getting in the pool. I asked her later what made her change her mind and she said that as she was sitting in the lifeguard stand, the pool was just calling out to her. It has only been two weeks away for her but she was more than ready to get back in and swim. Nolan continues to improve on his swimming - at least when he wants to be. He is learning how to do a freestyle stroke with his face completely down in the water. He struggles when he needs to breathe and comes to a complete stop in the water but then he'll put his face back down and start kicking again. We'll just keep working on it.

He can actually touch the bottom now at the most shallow part of the pool, which makes me feel a bit better.

Also happening this past week, our dryer broke. I started a load of laundry and it started squealing loudly and then smelled like burnt rubber. Thankfully Noel was able to buy the broken part and he had it fixed the very next day. What a blessing to us to not have to give up a dryer for more than one night!

One of the fun things that the girls' swimming team does from year to year is that they go to Ft Wayne as a group dressed in formals. They usually go to the mall first and eat dinner in the food court and then they usually play a couple of games of laser tag - all while wearing those formal dresses. I had gone to Goodwill the week before and brought home a couple of dresses but two of them didn't fit. Morgan was able to wear one of the dresses but I ended up taking the other two back. Marissa borrowed a dress from a friend - which wasn't a formal but was still "quite the dress". LOL They left around 5:00 on Friday night and met up with the rest of their group at the high school before heading off. Here are just a few pictures from that:

Probably the best part of our week was over the weekend when we were finally able to enjoy a day with beautiful "spring like" weather. Nolan wanted to play at the park so we took turns sitting at the park with him and walking the greenway.
Track starts next week for Melayna so we're on to new adventures....
