Let's see, what other random stuff happens around here?
Memories popped up on my phone the other day from the YMCA fun run from a few years ago. How bittersweet are these?
Or this memory from when Nolan climbed into our bed most nights? Although I admit that I enjoy having a lot more room in my bed at night, I do miss those cuddly moments.
Speaking of Nolan making memories, how about his e-learning for P.E. this week? He had to do three different activities using a "sock ball" and a small basket. I think he played basketball, soccer, and bowling. Apparently he worked up quite the sweat! LOL
And later.... same headband. 'Just a writing exercise this time. LOL
Morgan and Marissa both took their AP tests this week. Morgan took AP English and Marissa took an AP History test. Now we wait until July to find out if they passed them both and will receive college credits.

The weather turned instantly hot this week and Melayna went from practicing in three layers of clothes during track practice to overheating in a tank top and shorts. She did a nice job drinking water all throughout the day, but she still came home and crashed after a couple of practices.
On Wednesday night while everyone was gone, I asked Nolan if he wanted to learn how to tie shoes. (I know, I know.... how in the world does a third grader not know how to tie his shoes yet?) I guess it's just because I don't know how to teach someone to tie their shoes and the girls learned from an older cousin or obviously taught themselves. Nolan seemed to struggle when he was younger with those fine motor skills and then he would get frustrated with himself and give up. It just wasn't a battle that I needed to fight when he practically lives in Keel sandals and they make some pretty nice looking slip on gym shoes anyway, right? So, anyway... as of Wednesday night, he still didn't know how to tie them on his own. I found a couple of videos on youtube and he grabbed one of Marissa's tennis shoes and he started practicing. At first he got really frustrated with the "traditional" way of trying until I found a video from a woman who claimed that she tied her shoes differently than anyone else and he understand her method. It took him two tries and voila! He practiced over and over and over for the next three days and then on Friday night, I took him to the shoe store so he could pick out his first pair of "tying" tennis shoes ever! He is so proud of himself -- and we are all proud of his determination as well. Good job buddy!
With the nicer weather this week, I finally bought a few plants to decorate our front and back porches, along with adding a couple of patio chairs. (We still need to find a table for the back deck as our other table was broken) but it's coming along. I also picked up a couple of tomato and pepper plants. I started the daunting task of weeding and cleaning out my flower beds for the first time this season. It's not quite all where I want it, but it's coming along.
I LOVE these iris plants that bloom each spring in my front beds.
I've noticed a couple of hummingbirds flying around in recent days so they'll be thankful for the new flowers and new feeders.
I love the look for a newly weeded flower bed. I only wish that you could get away with only weeding once a summer! LOL

And to finish out the week, our two older girls went to prom on Saturday night. (Pictures coming in a separate post) and Melayna finished out her track season at her middle school conference meet. I'll share more about that in a separate post as well.
All in all, it was another crazy and full week and we find ourselves counting down the remaining 10 days of school. It will be here before we know it and then a crazy busy summer will begin. LOL
