On Friday night, our Warsaw Tigers played in their first ever semi-state football game. They would take on the #3 ranked Merrillville Pirates who are coached by a Warsaw alum, Brad Seiss. It was suppose to be a really really good game, but Warsaw was ranked as the underdogs. The weather was looking to be wet and cold, and although it seems that our guys play best in weather like that this year, I was not wanting to go sit in that as a fan. I decided that I would "take one for the team" and stay home in the dry and warm house with Nolan (who was still recovering from his sickness) and Noel and Melayna represented our family at the historical event.
Our town has been waiting this event all week, that is for sure. (Seeing all of the signs in town and the storefronts painted up, you would think that no one has ever had teams advance to this level before. LOL)
The theme of the student section was "ski night" so at least they all took advantage of the warm clothes. Melayna even took advantage of Noel's polarized goggles so complete her look.
Noel sat with his brother and several friends. They were all so excited about the game, they didn't feel the cold at all!!
At the end of four quarters, our guys were on top and more history had been made.
Congratulations boys. For the first time in school history, our football team is on the way to possibly claiming their first ever state title. It was a well fought, well played game on both sides and we are proud of these young men who have been working really really hard since the summer.
Very well deserved for sure.
