Our Trip to Florida // Day Three: Rainy Day at the Pier and Books a Million

We woke up to a chilly and rainy Tuesday morning.  Marissa went down to run three or four miles on the fitness room's treadmill while my Dad got his walking in by walking up and down six floors of the parking garage.

A few hours later in the day, we all drove down the road a bit to some souvenir shops so Marissa could get a sweatshirt as a souvenir from her trip.

(Sent this picture to Morgan...as a little inside joke)

Somehow in all the goofiness, I didn't even get a picture of her real sweatshirt but it's a really nice one that she can wear for years to come.

After doing a little shopping, we decided to brave the chilly air and to walk out onto the pier.  'Maybe not the best day to do that since the waves were too choppy for anyone to fish -- or really to enjoy being out there long.  Still fun to see the waves crashing against the pier and also a couple of people trying to surf a bit.  Quite a few birds were flying overhead and swooping down to catch some fish so that was entertaining to watch.

We would also spend some time at a bookstore (where Marissa picked up more than a couple of books) and then we grabbed dinner at Cracker Barrel.  Then it was back home for the night so Marissa could do homework and the rest of us could just relax.  The forecast showed that all of the gloomy weather was finally passing through and the next two days were looking to be gorgeous.
